Blue Bunny Coupons

I got an email this morning with 3 coupons in it.  It appears you get to pick one to print.  I have no idea if you can print them all as ice cream is a forbidden "fruit" in our home.  :-)  Here are the coupons they are letting you choose from:

$1 off 10 pack Sandwiches

$1 off Frozen Yogurt Novelty Carton

$1 off Premium or Novelty Frozen Yogurt Carton 1.75 qt

I don't have expiration dates as I will not be printing them.  Enjoy!

Mail Call :-)

I got the funniest sample in the mail today.  I think when I signed up to receive it I wondered how they would send it.  I got a sample of Cottonelle Ultra Toilet Paper.  It is, literally, a small roll of toilet paper!  I laughed when I saw it.  It's great!  It came with a $1 off coupon and a .50/1 Fresh Flushable moist wipes coupon.

I also got the Pampers super thin diapers from Vocal Point.  I just love getting samples from Vocal Point, they are so creative in their packaging!  The diaper sample came in a box that was shaped and decorated to look like a clutch purse!  There was a flap and a faux zipper on the inside!!!  Seriously, it looked like a purse.  This ties in perfectly with what Pampers is trying to sell these diapers on...that all you mom's can ditch the diaper bag and stick a few of these in your PURSE.  :-)  There were 3 diapers in the fake purse along with 3-$1.50 off Pampers coupons and one $3 off Pampers coupon.

I got the sample of Palmer's Coca Butter Formula Skin Therapy Oil today too.  Not so impressive as the others.  Was not accompanined by any coupons and is definitely a one shot sample.

Another Kroger Mailer

I received another Kroger mailer today.  This one was in conjunction with P&G and has 5 coupons in it.
The coupons are the following and they all expire 7/10:

$5 off Crest Whitestrips
$4 off Gillette Venus Embrace or Disposable Razors
$3 off CoverGirl LashBlast Fusion
$2 off Olay Body Wash
$1 off Secret Sheer Mineral or Soothing Effects

They are all manufacturer coupons.

Publix Gift Card

So I have made my decision about what I'm going to do with the Publix Gift Card.  I am going to see just how far I can make it go.  The card is for $250 and I hope to make it stretch to $700 worth of groceries.  I will, however, be using cash (as usual) at the other stores.  Kroger has a deal on Coke products right now that I cannot pass up since Bubba drinks Fanta Orange like it's going out of style.  Also, they have bone in ribeyes for a great price!  Kroger usually has the best price on chicken breasts too, so I will still buy this and that at other stores but the majority of my shopping will be at Publix as long as the gift card lasts!
To see what I'm talking about go HERE.

Israel Update

I am mailing in the final payment tomorrow.  We are going to Israel and Jordan in October.  I am amazed and in awe of how God worked it out for us to be able to go on this trip.  How He put it on our hearts to save up so we could go to Israel 6 months before the trip was announced in church.  Without those 6 months of savings we would never have been able to afford it!  How we will be led by someone who KNOWS the country and will show us the historic areas off the tourist route.  And how we get to go with people we know and love.  We will be strangers in the land but we will be with family as we go.  We are excited about watching Biblical history come alive right before our very eyes.  To be among the people that we pray for regularly, God's chosen, the Israelites.  Excitement doesn't even begin to describe it!  Awe, amazement, anticipation, those are better words.

I stand in awe of what the Lord has done.  All glory and honor belongs to Him.  How we are praying for God to speak to us while we are traveling across the Holy Land!

Hand Soap

Remember my Bath & Body Works trip?  Well, there they are!  Eighteen smelly, antibacterial hand soaps.  :-)  I still haven't gotten over that trip because I'll probably never get a deal like that again.  However, I won't need hand soap for quite awhile so it's all good!

Target Trip

This is what I bought at Target today.  It doesn't look like a whole bunch but the savings added up.  Here's what it looked like:

2-John Freida Root Awakening Shampoos $5.04 each
2-John Freida Root Awakening Conditioners $5.04 each
2-John Freida Root Awakening Detangler Sprays $5.04 each
2-Germ-X Hand Sanitizer Travel size .97 each
5-Satin Care Shave Gel Travel size .99 each

Coupons:
6-$3 off John Freida Root Awakening
3-$3/2 off John Freida Root Awakening (Target Q)
5-$1 off Satin Care Shave Gel
$3 off John Freida Catalina that printed right then
.05 for using a reuseable bag

Total before coupons and sales: $39.09 (including tax)
Total after coupons and sales:  $3.99 (including tax)

Now, if my cashier hadn't used the other $3 off John Freida catalina coupon then I would have paid $6.99 out of pocket.  Her philosophy is, if the register takes it she will use it.  She used it before I could stop her.  According to the Target coupon policy you can use 1 Target Q and 1 Manufacturer Q per product.  The catalina coupon put me over the allowable limit.  Don't expect every cashier to do that and you shouldn't ask if you have already used the allowable number of coupons.  I just ended up with a cashier with quick hands!

Publix Trip

I just had to run into Publix one more time before the Smart Balance was no longer BOGO!  I fully expected to get rain checks for it but they had exactly what I was hoping for in stock.  :-)  I was so happy.

Here is what I bought:

2-Smart Balance Low Fat Milk $1.80 each
Package of Celery sticks $2.00 each
Sliced Mushrooms $1.99
Sunflower Seeds $3.99
Red Grapes $3.18
Fresh Cilantro .99
2-Travel Schick Razors .99 each
Package of Carrots .89

Coupons:

2-$2.50 off Smart Balance Milk
2-$3.00 off Schick Razor peelie

Total before coupons and discounts:  $23.63 (includes tax)

Total after coupons and discounts:  $8.25 (includes tax)

I bought the milk and razors because I made money on them.  I will use the milk and the razors will go to my brother-in-law.  The celery, mushrooms, and carrots will be used in our dinner tonight.  The sunflower seeds will be used in the salads I make myself for lunch.  The cilantro went into fresh tomato salsa (love that stuff).  The red grapes are snacks for me.

Dinner tonight will be "Saturday Night Special" or "Hobo Packs" or whatever you call them.  Here is the recipe.

Ingredients:

Ground Beef (or turkey)--> One pound will make 2 packs so plan according to the number of folks you are feeding
Mushrooms, sliced
Onions, sliced
Celery, diced
Assorted Vegetables, sliced
Potato, sliced -->One potato will typically fit into 2 packs
Heavy aluminum foil

What I do, for the 2 of us, is make 2 different types of packs.  Bubba's has ground beef, potatoes, onions, mushrooms and carrots in it.  Mine has ground turkey, sweet potato, onion, and assorted other vegetables (squash, zucchini, etc.).  I put the meat into a bowl and add a little bit of some McCormick grill mates spices but I know Mrs. Dash or some other spice blend will work well.  I mix the meat up with the spice blend.  I slice the veggies up.  I set up a 1.5 foot length of foil on the counter, place veggies on the foil, salt and pepper to taste, then scoop half the meat mixture on the top of the veggies.  I pull the sides of the foil up and fold them over together and close the open ends by rolling them up and toward the center.  I put the foil pack on a cookie sheet and cook at 350 degrees for about 1 hour, sometimes a little longer.

When you pull them out of the oven, be careful opening them because the steam inside the pack will burn your skin.  We carefully pour the juices out and then place the contents of the pack on a plate.  If you wish to keep the juices with yours then I recommend a bowl.  These make for absolutely delicious meals AND the clean up is so easy!  Just throw the foil away and stick the dishes in the dishwasher.  :-)

Great Deal Alert-From a Reader

Jessica B. let me know about the following deal:

Kroger has a 10 pack of Crest Whitestrips 3D on sale for 21.99.  If you download the $10 PGesaver coupon, and use the $10 mfr coupon that was in the paper this weekend, it makes is $1.99!! Remember that the PGesaver coupons expire on 6/30/2010.  This the probably the best deal we will find on the whitestrips!

I told everyone about the PG ESaver e-coupons the other day.  You can read more about it HERE.  The whitestrips deal is the kind of deal I was referring to!  Way to go Jessica!

**Remember an e-coupon is only subtracted from your bill one time.**

Reader Question-Having Fun In Gray

Having Fun In Gray asked this question:  "Is there any way to get the coupons that the people in McDoughna or Atlanta get?!!! A friend when up there and brought me a AJC back once and I got all the good Coupons. Any ideas???"

The AJC (Atlanta Journal Constitution) does get better coupons than we do.  I noticed that right off the bat when I started couponing.  Thankfully for me, my Grandmother lives in the Atlanta area and gets the Sunday AJC.  She pulls the coupon inserts out and mails them to me every couple of weeks.  One suggestion I have is if you have a family member who is in the AJC delivery area, talk to them about possibly sending you the coupon inserts.  If they already get the AJC and don't use coupons then it will work out great.  If they don't get the AJC then consider buying them a subscription so they will send you the coupons.  You can call the AJC and get the Sunday edition mailed to you for about $161.36 per year.  You can call them at 1-800-933-9771.  I don't know how long it will take for the newspaper to get to your door but it probably won't be Monday.  It will probably be closer to Wednesday (this is just a guess).

There is another option:  if you look at the list of coupons that are available and see a few that you really just want to have, you can use a coupon clipping service like "The Coupon Clippers" (the link is to the right) or try Ebay.  I have bought coupons both ways.  I prefer Ebay and the "Buy It Now" option but the clipping sites are very helpful too.  If you choose to go through Ebay then head over to Ebates first.

Ebates is an online rebate site.  If you shop online quite a bit then head over to Ebates first, search for the store you want to shop at, then go through Ebates to that store site.  When you sign up you will get $5 then some percentage of what you purchase will be given back to you.  Ebates will send you a check in the mail.  I've received 2 checks so far and got a GREAT deal on Old Navy jeans for my husband!  I bought him 5 pair and paid less than $10 a pair thanks to the added savings by shopping through Ebates.  As you can probably tell, Ebates is affiliated with Ebay.  So, no matter what you buy on Ebay, if you go through Ebates first then you will get a little bit of what you spend back.  That was the long way of saying:  go through Ebates if you are going to buy coupons on Ebay!  :-)

Thanks for the great question!  I hope this helped.

Thursday & Friday

This week is a week of great joy and some sadness.  My wonderful husband is celebrating his birthday on Thursday!  He still looks as though he is in his twenties and I'm still blown away by the fact that I have known him for a little over 8 years.  So, Thursday he will get a dinner of his choice because he already got his birthday present.  I got him a big gift that counted as anniversary and birthday present all rolled into one.  He got a MAN gift!  :-)  He got a new grill.  We got the Duo-Grill by Char-Griller.  It has a gas grill and a charcoal grill all on the same stand.  I must say, it is sweet.  So, he's not getting a gift but a nice dinner somewhere.

Friday he leaves for the Ukraine and will be gone for 10 days.  He is headed over there to be a part of an Upward Soccer camp for the kids in the area and to encourage the Missionary and the Pastor of the tiny church that is there.  Those folks walk around in a lifetime of hopelessness.  Alcoholism is rampant, their lives and clothes are colorless.  The orphanages are full, suicide is "normal".  However, kids are kids whether they are Americans, Russian, Chinese, Peruvian, or Ukrainian!  They love to play and "football" (soccer) is a well known and loved sport over there.  This is Bubba's very first mission trip.  It's only the second time he's left the US (the first was on our honeymoon).  We are expecting God to do mighty things throughout this trip.  I am very, very sad that my husband will be away for 10 days but I am excited to see what God shows him while he is gone.  I can't wait to see how God grows him, spreads his wings, and opens his eyes!  I would love for God to call us into full time missions somewhere else in the world.

I'm rambling.  So, we celebrate his birthday Thursday and then send him halfway around the world on Friday.  Its going to be an interesting week.  :-)

Closing In On The End Of The Month

Can you believe that it is almost the end of June?!?  I feel as though I just started the month but the calendar is staring at me not allowing me to turn back time.  It is almost time to post end of month and YTD totals and update everyone on our Israel savings!

Before we get into all that, I want to remind you that the end of the month means declutter time!  Go through those coupons and pull out all that expire by June 30.  There are programs where you can send your expired coupons to our Military families stationed all over the world but I have not found one that is economical.  I'm not looking for cheap, just reasonable.  Anyway, the commissaries at Military bases in partnership with the companies that honor the coupons, allow our Military men and women to use coupons up to 3 months past the expiration date.  This is something to think about as you pull those coupons out.  If you find a "program" or organization that makes sending them overseas uncomplicated then we would love to hear about it!

So, go through the coupons and pull the ones that will expire and remember, if you want to cash in on any deals this week you probably need to hit the stores today or tomorrow!  A lot of your coupons expire on Wednesday.

By the way, it is YOUR responsibility to keep on eye on your coupon expiration date.  Cash registers do not recognize whether or not your coupons are expired.  If you use an expired coupon then you are stealing from the store you use it at because they will not be reimbursed for that transaction.  Be mindful of that as you shop.  Please be an ethical couponer!

What A Day!

Man, I did a whole lot of cooking today.  I made Bubba's favorite cookies, cucumber salad, and I attempted to can spaghetti sauce.  All I have left is a cheesecake.

All of this means that I haven't had time to update the blog today.  I hope you had a great day!

Belks Sale

Belks is having another sale...the only reason I mention it is because they advertised 40% select Yellow Box flip flops (my absolute favorite) and then I received an email for a 15% coupon.  Go HERE to use the coupon online or in the store.  I don't know if you can use them to get more money off Yellow Boxes or not but you can bet I'll be asking!

Wonderful News for Kroger Shoppers!

P&G eSAVER: Your online source for P&G savings

I received an email this morning from P&G and they have revived the eSaver program.  This is GREAT news if you are a die hard Kroger shopper!  The  P&G eSaver is another e-coupon site where you load coupons directly to your Kroger loyalty card.  I explained e-coupons HERE.  You can now add P&G eSaver to the list.  At this moment there are some great e-coupons on the site that can be combined with paper coupons to get a decent deal at Kroger.  It works out even better when you can combine the e-coupons, paper coupons, and a great sale!

You will need to sign up on the P&G website and then head over to the eSaver section.  Go HERE for the P&G site.  By the way, I just noticed that the coupons on the site right now expire on June 30 so if you want to take advantage of them, load them now, give them a little while to "activate" on your card then head to the store.

Crest Whitestrips-Save $10.00If you have been wanting to give these whitestrips a try then now might be the time.  Use the P&G e-coupon for $10 off combined with $10 off paper coupon from the last P&G insert to get $20 off at Kroger.  Except for finding these on clearance somewhere I really don't expect a better deal.

***READ THIS:  Please remember that e-coupons can only be used ONE TIME and typically on ONE product unless the print states otherwise!!!***

http://www.trees.ru/Gillette%20Shave%20Gel%202.5%20oz.%20Satin.jpg

Today I ran into Target with a young friend and grabbed 10 travel size Satin Care shave gels.  They were .99 each and I had 10 coupons for $1 off.  So, I walked out of Target with 10 travel size Satin Cares for around .70.  Not bad, not bad.

Free Suave Shampoo or Conditioner

I got a coupon in the mail today from Suave for a free full size bottle of Professionals Shampoo or Conditioner.  I don't remember signing up for this but it is quite possible that I did somewhere.  I'm just excited because it's FREE!  :-)

WalMart and Kraft

I don't know anything about how this works so we will be learning together.  It will be happening in several WalMarts in our area.  If you go I would love to hear what it's like and how it works.

Kraft is hosting a product sampling event at select Walmart locations. On this event occurring on 7/1-7/3 you can expect to sample 8 of Kraft’s new products:
  • Hot Dogs (Angus Bun Length Hot Dogs)
  • Kool Aid Fun Fizz
  • Crystal Light Pure
  • Dentyne Pure
  • Oreo Fudge Cremes
  • Ritz Munchables Pretzel Thins
  • Jello Mousse (Mint)
  • 100 Calorie Cheese Bites
Go here to enter your zip code and find the Walmart nearest you hosting this sampling event.  This will include the times.

Kroger Mailers

I've had 2 folks ask me how to get the Kroger mailers that come with coupons in them.  I don't know exactly what I did to start receiving them but I will explain what you can do to assist in maybe getting them.  The first thing you need to do is sign up for a Kroger Card and you have 2 options.  You can sign up for the Kroger Loyalty card and that is all it is or you can sign up for the Kroger 1-2-3 MasterCard.  I have the plain loyalty card.  You can sign up at the Customer Service desk in the store or online at Kroger.com.  Once you sign up and have your card in hand then you can go online HERE and set up your Kroger profile.  I would fill it out as completely as possible so that when they do send you mailers you will get things relevant to you and your family. Since we don't have children I do not receive baby food or diaper coupons from Kroger.  I do receive, on occasion, pet item coupons.  If you have already done these two things and you are still not receiving Kroger mailers then I would call customer service and ask them what you need to do:  1-800-KROGERS   (1-800-576-4377).  I have interacted with Kroger customer service one time and they were very pleasant to deal with.

If you know what you did to receive Kroger coupon mailers and I didn't mention it here please comment and let everyone else know.  Thanks!

Publix Trip

This week's Publix ad doesn't get me awful excited but there are a few things that I wanted to get.  It didn't hurt that the one item I really, really need is a money maker this week.  :-)

Here's what I purchased this morning:

Fresh Express Baby Spinach $2.99
Fresh Express Salad Blend $2.00
2-Smart Balance Low Fat Milk $1.80 each
2-Smart Balance Non-Fat Milk $1.80 each
Dean's Guacamole Dip $1.59
Domino Sugar (5lb) $2.49
4-Kraft Velveeta Shells & Cheese $1.00 each
2-Scotch Brite sponges (3 pack) $2.99 each
Cascade Action Packs (20 count) $3.99
3-Travel Pack Schick Razors (for my BIL) .99 each

Coupons:

4-$2.50 off Smart Balance Milk (money maker)
$1 off Dean's Dip Publix Q in the Yellow Advantage Flyer
.75/1 Dean's Dip printed at Kroger on catalina (manufacturer coupon)
.50/1 Domino Sugar (don't forget this one doubles)
2-.50/1 Scotch Brite (peelie right on the package and it doubles)
3-$3 off any Schick Razor (money maker)
$1 off Cascade Publix Q
.50/1 Cascade Home Made Simple coupon booklet (don't forget this doubles)

Total before discounts and coupons:  $50.64 (includes tax)

Total after discounts and coupons:  $8.87 (includes tax)

That was a pretty good trip, especially getting 4 half gallons of specialty milk for better than free!  Also, I found out recently that my brother-in-law likes the cheap razors so every time I put a few in my buggy I get to give them to him.  :-)  I'll be sending my dad one of those nice Hydro or Pro Fusion razors...I just assumed he used an electric razor for some reason.

I'll be going back later in the week to pick up some more better than free milk and a couple more travel Schick razors.  The new Publix policy is a limit of 4 on BOGO items when you have coupons for them.  This limit works for me since it's just the husband and I but if I had a large family that would be frustrating.

I purchased some coupons off Ebay the other day so I'll be heading to Target to pick up free shave gel later on!  It's a great week for free stuff....man, I just love using those coupons!

Target Trip

While I was out and about racking up on hand soap I stopped off at Target to check out the new clearance items.  There are a ton in the food section but there wasn't anything that I needed or wanted.  However, you and your binder or folder or envelope or box of coupons should head up there and see if anything catches your fancy!  I did grab a few of the Kool Aid packets that were clearance priced at .13 each (this is for the packet that makes 2 quarts and you have to add sugar).

I also picked up 2 sticks of my favorite deodorant...you guessed it: Dove!!!  :-)  Target has a deal going right now that WYB Dove deodorant you get a Dove Body Mist free.  The Dove deo is priced at $3.34 each and if you use the $1 Target store Q AND the $2 manufacturer printable Q that makes a stick .34.  So you walk out with a stick of deodorant and a body mist for .34!  I only had enough coupons to do the deal twice but as you know...I have quite the stash of Dove Deodorant.  :-)  I was a little disappointed in the selection of Body Mists to choose from: there wasn't a choice!  There was only 1 fragrance on the shelf but it was free so I took my 2.

If you got to Target and cash in on the clearance deals I would love to hear about it.  What was your best deal this week?!?

Can You Say "Hand Soap"?!?

Herb Garden Deep Cleansing Soap - Anti-Bacterial - Bath & Body Works

I am still laughing as I write this post!  I hit the jackpot at Bath & Body Works this morning.  They are having their semi-annual sale right now, there is a $10/$40 purchase coupon floating around (if you get their e-newsletter then you received one), AND I had a $25 gift card that my boss gave me for Administrative Appreciation Day.  :-)  I work 2 days a week so her gift was definitely over the top but I was so excited to get it!  I saved it for a deal like today.  On top of all that, my favorite hand soap has received an updated look so the "old" bottles are 50% off making the $2.25 each, where the exact same thing in the updated bottles are selling for $3 each.

So, I bought enough hand soaps to get me up to just over $40, used my $10/$40 coupon, used my $25 gift card (thank you Vonnie), and paid just over $7 out of pocket for 18 or 19 bottles of full size anti-bacterial hand soap.  Unbelievable!

A State Wide Ministry

I can't believe it didn't cross my mind to post this.  Covenant Care Adoptions is a ministry that my husband and I know, believe in, and support.  Back at the beginning of the year I baked 14 (2 of which didn't turn out "right" so my friends enjoyed them) cheesecakes for their annual Ladies Night Out in Warner Robins.  The really, really, really cool thing about those cheesecakes is it didn't cost me a dime to make them which meant that it didn't cost the ministry anything!!!  (Thanks to friends with coupons.)

Covenant Care Adoptions is a Christian Adoption Agency that has Case Workers all over the State.  One of the main reasons I love this ministry so much is the fact that they pour time, energy, and resources into the birth mothers before, during, AND after the adoption process!  They don't just thank her for the baby and drop her like a hot potato.  I know several families who have adopted through CCA.  I also know the Director of the ministry, the Chairman of the Board, and several other board members and staff.  These people LOVE...people.  They love and encourage couples dealing with infertility, they love all the women who call or come in who are experiencing a crisis pregnancy, and most of all they love those little unborn babies.  This ministry is the REAL DEAL.  Here is what made me bring it up:

Covenant Care is hosting a Photo Contest fundraiser and we need YOUR help! Each child participating was placed in his/her forever family through the adoption ministry of Covenant Care. Look at the faces of these thriving children! Votes will be taken until midnight this Sunday night (June 20th). Each $1 donated in honor of one of these children equals a vote. Votes are unlimited!
Here’s where YOU come in.
If just 500 CCS contacts donate $10, and each of those 500 contacts gets 5 of their friends to donate $10, then we could jointly raise $30,000 for the ministry of adoption with just a few clicks!
What could $30,000 do?
$20 – Cover the cost of a meal for a CCS caseworker and a birth mom who is pregnant and longing for direction, peace and support
$50 – Cover the cost of a post-placement meal shared by a CCS caseworker, adoptive family, birth family, and child that brings reassurance and joy to a birth mom’s decision to place her child with the family she has chosen
$100  - Cover the cost of a car seat used by CCS to transport newborns from the hospital to home!
$300 – Cover the cost of  a birth mom attending CCS’s statewide retreat for women who have made an adoption plan
$20,000 –  Sponsor the investment CCS makes in each step leading to a child being placed in a 2-parent, Christian home
So, will you help? Will you share this post, put it on your blog, pass the word to your contacts???? Let’s affirm these beautiful families and honor the choices made by their birth mothers represented in this Photo Contest!
P.S. Here’s a picture of one of the babies who was placed in his forever family this month because of your support!

Publix Trip

I ran into Publix to pick up a couple of things before heading into work this morning.  Here is what I picked up:

4-Baily's Coffee Creamer $1.05 each
3-Kellogs Frosted Flakes $2.00 each

Coupons used:

$1.50/3 Kellogs Cereal
4- .55/1 Baily's Coffee Creamer Publix Q
4- $1 off Baily's Coffee Creamer (printable manufacturer Q)

Total before sales and coupons:  $20.61

Total after all discounts:  $2.47

I did not use my gift card for this purchase.  I will wait until July 1 to start using it.  Can you believe that is .35 for each item?!?  Wow.

I was looking for a few other things but they were out of stock or not part of the sale.  I was going to pick up some Campbell's good for cooking Condensed Soup but the 10 for $10 was not on the "flavors" I was looking for.  I wanted a tub of Dean's guacamole dip but they were all out (but had plenty of French Onion).  I also wanted a couple of boxes of Whole Wheat Eggo Waffles and those were gone.  There were PLENTY of the other flavors if you want in on that deal.  :-)

Publix New Coupon Policy

There really aren't too many changes to the Publix coupon policy.  Each store can independently decide who their competitors are or are not, so those things will vary by store.  The easiest way to find out who your Publix considers to be a competitor is to call the store...NOT CORPORATE, they will just recommend calling your store.

Here is what I read when I was in there this morning:

The Publix on Russell Parkway in Warner Robins considers the following stores to be competitors:

Kroger, Winn Dixie, CVS, Walgreens, Food Lion (I think I saw Food Lion on the list), and Target

So, those are the stores that they will accept coupons from (store coupons).

You may use 1 competitor OR 1 Publix store coupon AND 1 manufacturer coupon on 1 product but not one of each (so you cannot do this:  1 competitor Q+1 Publix store Q+1 Manufacturer Q).  That wasn't allowed anyway but some folks were doing it and some cashiers were allowing it.

Publix no longer accepts internet printable coupons for FREE items.  I believe that if you have a BOGO coupon they will take it but if the coupon is for a free item they will not take it.  There has been too much fraud so they have put a stop on that one.

Next, if you buy products that are BOGO and use coupons on both items you are limited to 4 items.  So, no more going in and buying all the store has on the shelves!  :-)  This is in an effort to make sure that other folks have a chance to get in on the deals.

They also printed some information about Rain Checks.  They will only issue Rain Checks for items that are IN the ad during the dates on the ad.  One Rain Check equals 1 item.

That is all I remember.  I didn't have a lot of time when I ran in this morning so I didn't ask for a copy of the policy.  If you head out and see something I missed please let all of us know.

Freebies In The Mail

Let's see...I received a travel size Pantene for Color Treated hair shampoo & conditioner along with great coupons from VocalPoint.  A 3 pack of Ultra Playtex Sport tampons, along with a $1 off coupon.  I received my $2 rebate from PertPlus for Men....AND a Kroger home mailer with some coupons in it (none to get real excited about).  Sometimes going to the mailbox is such a pleasure!

Coupons For Free Product

At the beginning of June I told you about an online program that I am a part of called Kraft First Taste.  If you will recall, they sent me 6 coupons, each for 1 free product.  I have "purchased" a few of those free products and of those 6 I have tried 2 of them.

I "bought" the Kool Aid Fizz in lemonade flavor.  I felt like a kid again when I picked up the package at the store!  I couldn't wait to get it home and see if it really fizzed and whether or not it was the Kool Aid I remembered.  The fizz did not disappoint!  I sat there and watched the whole tablet fizz away as it turned the water a yellow color.  I swirled it a little then tasted it.  I thought it was very good.  I don't like strong, strong flavor in water, I just want the water to have enough flavor to taste like something and that is what the Kool Aid Fizz did.  It was slightly sweet and added a little more than a hint of lemonade flavor to my glass of water.  If you like strong Kool Aid then stick to the packets you mix yourself.  If you want something that will entertain your kids at least once then buy a package of Kool Aid Fizz and watch their eyes sparkle as the tablet fizzes until it disappears.

I also tried the Bacon and Cheddar Crackerfuls.  The cheese & bacon is a bit on the powdered side, not creamy and smooth but I guess it can't be since that would make the crackers soggy.  If you already like and eat pre-packaged cheese or peanutbutter & crackers then you will probably like these.  I don't buy or eat "cheese & crackers" that have been pre-packaged...simply because I don't like them.  However, these were FREE so I wanted to give them a shot.  They weren't bad, honestly, they weren't!  I won't be rushing out to buy another box of them tomorrow or anything.  IF I find myself in need of a mid afternoon snack and these are on hand then I won't turn them down (if it was cheese or peanutbutter & crackers, I would turn them down).  The Crackerfuls are not "meal replacers", they are thin and not filling but if you just need something to get you through from lunch to dinner then this might do the trick.

Another Win

How many of you can say that you have $70 worth of Amazon Gift Cards that you did very, very, very little to earn (not counting holidays)?!?  Well, I have $70 worth of Amazon Gift Cards and I did precious little to "earn" them.  In fact, I am on my way to yet another $5 Amazon e-Gift Card as I type this!  How?

I've told you about Swagbucks.  Go HERE to find out more.  I signed up at the beginning of the year, downloaded the toolbar for Firefox and Safari (although I use Firefox more because I like some of the features), then I surfed the web as usual.  Instead of using the Google search box, I use the Swagbucks search box that is powered by Google.  So, even though you are using the Swagbucks search box you are still getting Google responses.  For each topic that I do a search on I can be awarded points called...SwagBucks.  You can use those bucks to shop in the SwagStore.  I haven't done any looking around in the store because I am saving up for a new digital camera to take to Israel with us.  That camera is available on Amazon.com so when I get 450 SwagBucks I head to the SwagStore and get a $5 Amazon e-Gift Card.  Then I wait for them to send me an email letting me know that my e-Gift Card is available in my SwagBucks account.  I have earned enough SwagBucks to have $70 worth of Amazon e-Gift Cards!  It's SO easy.

Who doesn't like FREE stuff?!?  If you are surfing the web anyway, why not earn "points" that you can spend on cool stuff and get it all FREE.

I've explained a little more HERE and HERE.

So what's in it for me?  Two things:

1)  This blog is all about saving money, finding freebies, and helping you keep more cash so you can be a bigger giver...SwagBucks are FREE so I am telling you about it.

2)  When you sign up through the links I have put in this post and then when you start earning SwagBucks, I earn the exact same amount you do up to 1000 "points".  Once you reach 1000 "points" I stop earning with you.  If you sign up and never earn a single SwagBuck then I don't either.  Once you are signed up, you can get folks to sign up through you and you can earn extra "points" to spend in the SwagStore!

Even if I did not benefit from you signing up I would still tell you about this great opportunity to get free stuff!  :-D  However, since it's a win-win-win situation, head over HERE, sign up, and start searching.

A New Challenge

I am issuing myself another challenge.  :-)  Are you guys surprised?  Since receiving that gift card yesterday, the wheels in my head have been turning and turning.  How best can I use the gift that God sent me?  Here is what I came up with:  I am going to track the shelf cost of everything I use the gift card to purchase and see just how much a $250 gift card can buy!  I would be...beside myself if I was able to buy $1000 worth of groceries for $250 but I will set a goal of $700.  What do you think?  Should I go for a larger or smaller amount?

Definitions:

Shelf cost = the cost of an item before sales and coupons

Groceries = anything you can buy at your average grocery store including personal and beauty products, however remember that we have a separate budget line for pet food so I do not include that in any of our numbers

OR

I could go to Publix and pick up a bunch of stuff that rarely ever goes on sale and stock up my freezer, ie: steaks, chicken, ribs, produce, ground beef, etc.

Which one would you do?

Publix Run

I ran into Publix today.  This week's sales weren't the best around so it was just a quick trip to pick up a few things for dinner tonight.  I bought $33.58 for $10.16.

I bought:
4-Mott's Medley Fruit Juice $1.50 each
Kraft Hearty 4 Cheese Meal (new product) $2.99
2-Nestle Cookie Dough $1.45 each
Digiorno Deep Dish Personal Pizza $2.49
2 Sliced Portabella Mushrooms $1.69 each
Potato $1.45
Sweet Potato $.66
Noxema Bikini Razor $2.99

Coupons:
4-$1 off Mott's Medley Fruit Juice
Free Kraft Hearty Macaroni Meal
2-$1 off Nestle Cookie Dough
Free Digiorno Deep Dish Pizza
$2 off Noxema Bikin Razor

I can't wait to give the Mott's Medley a go...I've been wondering how it tastes.  The mac-n-cheese looks good but we'll see.  The cookie dough is for the hubby as is the personal pizza.  The potatos and mushrooms are for dinner tonight.

I hope the new ad is better than this week.  :-)  Still enjoy going to Publix though.

I won! I won! I won!

Woohoo!!!!  I got home from a quick run to Publix where I didn't make out like a bandit because there were things that I HAD to have for dinner tonight.  I stop at the mailbox and grab what's in it.  A quick look and a, what I call, "suspicious" looking envelope is in the pile.  Most of the time it looks like it's from a marketer just trying to get my money but this one ended up being WAY DIFFERENT!!!

Do you folks remember the sweepstakes hosted by Unilever?  It was called Unilever "Personal Concierge" Sweepstakes.  You could win a personal concierge service for a little while...that was the Grand Prize.  Well, First Prize Winner received a $250 Publix gift card...that was ME!!!  Woohoo!!!!  I just won a $250 Publix gift card!!!!

Just for the record, I'm one of those folks who doesn't win anything and I just won something really, really, really cool.  :-)  This blessing couldn't come at a better time.  God's timing is always perfect!

Every good and perfect gift comes from above!  Thank you, Lord.  :-)
